It’s been a few years since I’ve transliterated Greek regularly, and I’ve had to do a lot of it with Jacob Bryant’s work. However, I’ve been missing an important ligature and mistaking it for the sigma (S), but it was actually a sigma-tau (ST), and the Greek keyboards nowadays don’t have the old ligatures or abbreviations from used by scholars in the 18th and 19th centuries. But I wanted to bring it to your attention because it’s a perfect example of how the sigma (S) and sigma-tau (ST) used to be interchangeable, an effect we still see in how we pronounce words in English, i.e., listen, epistle, mistle-toe, Christmas. The T is silent. The ST merely functions like an S. Once can see how christos can show up as chris, chres, or chrisos. If the writing of the era isn’t familiar to the reader, it’s difficult to make sense of ligatures, even if the base alphabet is known.
Here are some examples, which will be of value to those of you doing this work:
Ad
Jacob Bryant wrote (Anal. Anci. Myth. p. 23.), “Ad is a title, which occurs very often in composition, as in Ad-Or, Ad-On; from whence was formed Adorus, Adon, and Adonis. It is sometimes found compounded with itself: and was thus made use of for a supreme title, with which both Deities and kings were honoured. We read of Hadad king of Edom: and there was another of the same name at Damascus, whose son and successor was styled Benhadad. According to Nicolaus Damascenus, the kings of Syria for nine generations had the name of Adad.” (Nicolaus Damasc. apud Josephum Antiq. L. 7. c. 5.)
This claim isn’t demonstrated. If the records are authentic, I won’t dispute the affinity. I will however, dispute the attempt to claim the origins of Adon being Adad. That radical, Don, signifies Lord. It is a title of patriarchy used by ancient Italians all the way up till the present day. The origin of Adonis is claimed to be Phoenician. Perhaps they picked it up from Syrians in their travels, but one must always consider the fact that the idea of Phoenician is only possible from an Etruscan context, as that word puni, pone, etc., which admittedly signifies purple, is Etruscan, carried by their descendants, the Latins, in the form of Pœni, the very word for Phoenicians. No other culture seems to carry the traditions or possess the required resources and advancements to develop and spread this system other than the cultures descended from the peninsula of Italy.
Bryant continued (Ib. p. 23.), “There was a prince Hadadezer, son of Rehob king of Zobah (2 Samuel. c. 8. v. 3.): and Hadoram, son of the king of Hamath.” (1. Chron. c. 18. v. 10.)
First and foremost, too much fraud exists around the Bible to use it as a historical document, even if it were an account based on history, which it is not. There is no history in the Bible. There are plenty of unsubstantiated lies, such as the claim that Augusts Caesar taxed the whole world, but there is no history to be drawn from the scriptures, let alone ancient history. Were the Bible used as evidence in a court of law, I’d file a motion to dismiss. Secondly, this word is spelled EDDOZR (Heh, dalet, dalet, ayin, zayin, resh.) One cannot claim Hebrew to have its letters be descended from Phoenician while simultaneously ignoring the Phoenician function of those letters. Ayin is O in Phoenician. Transliterating it as an E is akin to transliterating a Greek omicron or omega (O) into the letter E. Do these letters interchange? Yes. But is it accurate to transliterate them otherwise, when they are specifically written? No. This happens all the time, and people gave each other passes for it. But in light of the work I’ve done, this needs to change. Liberty was taken to transliterate Eddozr as Hadadezer, especially from an admittedly dead language being revived. There is no continual succession of people speaking that language, which, for all intents and purposes, does not become a spoken language till after the beginning of second millennia AD, in the Middle Ages. There seems to be no humility, among modern cultures, in acknowledging this fact.
In 1 Chron. 18:10, Hadadezer is spelled the same way. Hadoram is also butchered by the liberties taken with English/Latin transliterations. הדורם (Heh, dalet, vav, resh, mem sofit) should be translated EDURM to be accurate for those familiar with Latin letters. As you can see, it is of foreign origin.
The etymology is uncertain for much of the Hebraic system because it was never a culture as pretended in the Bible. It was a group of priests who were initiated beyond the Hebraic degrees in mystery schools: Priests (Cohens). This is a priestly system, which could only be propagated to the locations it is found through advanced maritime capabilities, not by wandering shepherds. Furthermore, Hebrew does not show up in the archaeological record in places it needs to be, but Phoenician, Etruscan, and the other ancient Italian languages do.
Bryant continued (Ib. pp. 23, 24.), “The God Rimmon was styled Adad: and mention is made by the Prophet of the mourning of Adad Rimmon in the valley of Megiddo.” (Zechariah. c. 12. v. 11.)
Here’s how it was written, at least in modern Hebrew. (I’m not sure if it looks the same in Old Synagogue Hebrew.)
As you can probably see by now, the word is just written רמון (resh, mem, vav, nun sofit), which is RMUN. Why transliterate it to Rimmon when it is closer to Amun, or Armun, Urmun, Ormun, etc.? Do you see what I mean by the liberties being taken? You’ll also notice they have no idea what it is (in their own words, probably a heathen god). And there is no adad— prefixing the word rmun. Something must be missing contextually on my end because this is unacceptable. Feel free to write how the word was written in Old Synagogue in the comments section. I might just be giving a full-on demonstration of the Dunning Kruger effect, but in regards to citing the Bible to solve the mystery of cultural diffusion of this ancient system, I would fill a motion to dismiss.
Bryant continued (Ib. p. 24.), “The feminine [form] of it (Adad) was Ada: of which title mention is made by Plutarch in speaking of a queen of Caria.” (Plutarch. Apothegmata. p. 180. One of the wives of Esau was of Canaan and named Adah, the daughter of Elon the Hittite. Gen. c. 36. v. 2.)
The following is anecdotal, but if you plug in one of the Latin word for Etruscans, which is Hetrusci, Google translates it incorrectly as Hittites, which means someone, or something, programmed it to be that way. I don’t think this is an intentional obfuscation, but rather the AI mechanism drawing from an erroneous body of data to pull these translations, the erroneous body of data being all the scanned work that was based on erroneous conclusions. Elon the Hittite would be Elon the Etruscan under these conditions. But again, I wouldn’t even admit these citations.
Keep in mind that the feminine version of Lord is Lady. Bryant continued (Ib.), “It was a sacred title, and appropriated by the Babylonians to their chief Goddess.” (Αδα, ήδονη και ύπο Βαβυλωνιων ή Ηρα. Ada, goddess (edone; similar to adonai) of the Babylonians, their version of Hera (the Lady). Hesychius.)
Well, who are the Babylonians? In the same Bible that Bryant is using to prove his cased, Rome is Babylon. If you recall, in 1 Peter 5:13, the literal rendering is “Salute you doth the assembly in Babylon jointly elected, and Markus my son,” the context of which is, “Through Silvanus, whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it. The church in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you greetings, as does my son Mark. Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.”
Silvanus? That’s from the Etruscan Selvans. Sylvans means savior in Armoric. This is obvious astrotheology, the origin of Pan and many more deities.
The following is an Etruscan trident-caduceus. If the following artifact isn’t broken, the Etruscan inscription reads SELVA. This is likely an abbreviation for Selvans, who became Silvanus in later Latin culture, or the rest of his name was broken or sawed off. Selvans is a god of woodlands and boundaries, just like Terminus and Mercury, as well as Pan. It’s obvious where this symbolism originated and why every successive variant of it is found in Italy.
1 Peter 5:13 has Rome referred to as Babylon. Markus/Marcus, the Shining One, Regulus, St. Mark, is exclusively a Latin (Italian) name. So this idea that Babylon being the cradle of civilization may in fact be Italy, the Garden of Europe.
Everywhere in Venice exists the ancient Italian symbolism of Venetian/Phoenician lion. What sign does the sun rule? Leo. The middle of summer, the wrath of God. Leo comes from Lis (Phoenician), Leon (Greek), and Elyon (Hebrew, God the Most High).
